چکیده

We study the behavior of the electromagnetic field in a biological cell modelized by a medium surrounded by a thin layer and embedded in an ambient medium. We derive approximate transmission conditions in order to replace the membrane by these conditions on the boundary of the interior domain. Our approach is essentially geometric and based on a suitable change of variables in the thin layer. Few notions of differential calculus are given in order to obtain our asymptotic conditions in a simple way. This paper extends to time-harmonic Maxwell equations the previous works presented in [27, 29, 28, 4]. Asymptotic transmission conditions at any order are given in Appendix 1. Approximate solution of laminar thermal boundary layer over a thin plate heated from below by convection

In this paper, an integration of a symbolic power series method - Padé approximation technique (PS - Padé), was utilized to solve a system of nonlinear differential equations arising from the similarity solution of laminar thermal boundary layer over a flat plate subjected to a convective surface boundary condition. As both boundary conditions tended to infinity, the combination of series solut...

Scientific Flow Field Simulation of Cruciform Missiles Through the Thin Layer Navier Stokes Equations

The thin-layer Navier-Stokes equations are solved for two complete missile configurations on an IBM 3090-200 vectro-facility supercomputer. The conservation form of the three-dimensional equations, written in generalized coordinates, are finite differenced and solved on a body-fitted curvilinear grid system developed in conjunction with the flowfield solver. The numerical procedure is based on ...

Numerical Investigation of Birefringene Effect on the Light Reflection

In the present paper, the problem of light reflection from a birefringent medium and thin film is considered. First, the analytical equations governing the propagation of a plane and harmonic electromagnetic wave in an infinite, birefringent, linear, non-dispersive, non-absorbing, and non-magnetic medium is derived from Maxwell equations. Then, using phase matching condition and boundary condit...

New Nonoverlapping Domain Decomposition Methods for the Harmonic Maxwell System

We study a nonoverlapping domain decomposition method for the harmonic Maxwell equations with a new kind of interface condition. Using Fourier analysis we derive suitable families of transmission conditions in R3 that involve second order tangential differential operators and that guarantee convergence for both propagative and evanescent modes. Such families depend upon parameters that are chos...

Equivalent Transmission Conditions for the Time-Harmonic Maxwell Equations in 3D for a Medium with a Highly Conductive Thin Sheet

We propose equivalent transmission conditions of order 1 and 2 for thin and highly conducting sheets for the time-harmonic Maxwell’s equation in three dimension. The transmission conditions are derived asymptotically for vanishing sheet thickness ε where the skin depth is kept proportional to ε. The condition of order 1 turns out to be the perfect electric conductor boundary condition. The cond...
